The Game of Ringer

A favorite past time for many of school aged children in the 20th century. I wanted to know where it all originated and I found this book. “The Playground, or Out-Door Games for Boys, A Book of Healthy Recreations for Youth,” Dick & Fitzgerald, New York, 1866.
In it, a chapter titled Outdoor Games that defines and lays out the rules and objectives of several games played with Marbles. I attached a link with the chapter from the book. It even details how to properly shoot a marble. It is a lot harder than it looks !!
